Vietnamese Businesses Seek Investment Opportunities in Agricultural Processing and Logistics in Northern Territory

From March 16 to 21, 2025, a delegation of Vietnamese businesses, jointly organized by the Vietnam Association of Foreign Invested Enterprises (VAFIE) and the Northern Territory Vietnam Business Council (NTVBC), conducted a field survey in Northern Australia. The trip aimed to explore and evaluate opportunities for investment cooperation in agricultural processing and logistics development between Vietnam and Northern Territory.

The delegation included representatives from leading enterprises in the Mekong Delta region in the fields of logistics and agricultural processing, such as Mr. Pham Tien Hoai – Chairman of Hau Giang Province Business Association, Chairman and CEO of Hanh Nguyen Logistics Company and Tien Thinh Agricultural Processing JSC; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thi – Assistant to the CEO; Mr. Tran Quoc Du – a multi-sector investor; and Mr. Chiem Thang – Representative of VAFIE in Ho Chi Minh City cum Coordinator of NTVBC, toghether with other potential investors.

During the visit, the delegation held important meetings with high-level leaders of Northern Australia, including Mr. Chris Mouat – Senior Director of Investment Attraction, Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations (DTBAR); Professor Steve Rogers – Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Charles Darwin University (CDU), responsible for research and innovation; and Dr. Warren Hunt – Manager of Northern Australia Food Technology Innovation Project. Particularly noteworthy was the delegation’s meeting with Deputy Speaker of the Northern Territory Parliament, Mr. Brian O’Gallagher, and senior advisors at the Northern Territory Parliament House.

Other key activities included visiting and working at East Arm Darwin Port and conducting a detailed survey at Rum Jungle Meat Export in Batchelor to study logistics, meat processing, and export systems. The delegation also visited and surveyed mango farming and packaging facilities run by Mr. Wayne Quach, a prominent Vietnamese farmer recognized for his significant contributions to the mango industry in Northern Australia.

Ngoài ra, Đoàn cũng đã có buổi tham quan và làm việc với cảng biển East Arm Darwin, cũng như khảo sát cơ sở Rum Jungle Meat Export tại Batchelor để tìm hiểu về hệ thống kho vận trong chế biến và xuất khẩu thịt.

To prepare a skilled workforce, the delegation visited and worked with Charles Darwin University (CDU) and the International College of Advanced Education (ICAE), exploring vocational training programs to support future investment projects.

The visit was highly successful, opening significant prospects for concrete investment cooperation between Vietnamese businesses and Northern Australian partners, thereby strengthening bilateral trade relations and laying the groundwork for strategic cooperative projects in the near future.
